BIT CALENDAR
Version 1.2 November 1987
INTRODUCTION
BIT CALENDAR combines an appointment calendar with an event
calendar. The calendar is perpetual and permits entering
appointments by date, year after year with perminent reten-
tion. The event's calendar is an annual calendar permitting
entry of birthdays, holidays and annual occasions which, of
course, reoccur year after year. Provision is made for
printing a hard copy of a selected month.
Thanks to Jim LeMay's Qsikxx.Inc and Windowxx.Inc for window
control and speed writing.
FILES
The following files were archieved with BC.COM. The two .DAT
files must be in either the same directory/path or in the
default directory.
APPOINT.DAT Your file of appointments by date
EVENT.DAT Your file of birthdays, holidays, etc.
BCINST.COM Printer installation
BCHELP.DOC This file (TYPE BCHELP.DOC > PRN
for a hard copy)
TERMINAL INSTALLATION
BIT CALENDAR should recongnize the presence of a monochome
or graphics card and/or a CGA or EGA monoitor.
PRINTER INSTALLATION
The printer is configured to print 8 lines per inch by using
the escape sequence #27#48 - the required sequence for the
Epson FX series, the IBM Proprinter, the Okidata 92 (with
Plug & Play), and the Okidta 192 (IBM Compatible). To change
the escape sequence to #27#48 for the Okidata 92 run BCInst
and make the proper selection.
OPERATION AND COMMAND FUNCTIONS
Enter BC to start.
The initial screen displays two weeks of a calendar starting
with the current system date.
Function Key F10 displays a Help Screen providing a
directory to all functions essentially negating need for
further explanation. The following is offered simply to
expand on those instructions.
F1 Help
F2 A toggle key between the Appointments format (full
date month/day/year) and Events format (month/day
only). When in the Events format, PgUp and PgDn do
not work.
F3 To select a starting date several weeks or months
away from the present date. See PgDn and PgUp to
scroll the calendar two weeks forward or back.
F9 Prints a complete month of appointments starting
with the first day of the month shown on line 1.
F10 End or Quit key and files any changes to disk. Two
disk files are associated with the program,
Event.Dat and Appoint.Dat and must be kept in the
same directory as BC.COM.
Arrows Move cursor up, down, right and left
Home To left end of line
End To right end of line
Del Deletes character above the cursor
BS Backspaces, same as left arrow key
Enter Necessary to insert line into buffer. Tapping the
Cursor located anywere on a line will record the
entire line to a buffer
Ctrl- Use to delete entire line. Tap anywhere on line
End and entire line will be deleted. Blanking by
entering spaces works but wastes file space.
PgUp Scroll two weeks forward or two weeks back.
PgDn
MISCELLANEOUS
No provision has been made to delete conveniently old
appointment records - for example to remove all appointment
records prior to 01/01/86. I plan to write such a module.
Please let me know of any bugs or suggested improvements.
